En effet, que nous reste-t-il \u00e0 dire, \u00e0 nous, commentateurs, analystes, proph\u00e8tes et pr\u00e9dicateurs, lorsque la Chambre des Repr\u00e9sentants des \u00c9tats-Unis vote, le 17 mars 2004, par 327 voix contre 93, la R\u00e9solution 557, dont le premier paragraphe \u00e9nonce ceci :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <strong><em>House Resolution 557<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>affirms that the United States and the world have been made safer with the removal of Saddam Hussein and his regime from power in Iraq; &#8230;<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\tLa r\u00e9solution a \u00e9t\u00e9 parrain\u00e9e par le r\u00e9publicain de l&rsquo;Illinois, le v\u00e9n\u00e9rable Henry Hyde, homme r\u00e9put\u00e9 comme une grande conscience et \u00e9galement comme un parlementaire v\u00e9n\u00e9rable et raisonnable (il pr\u00e9side la Commission de la Justice de la Chambre). C&rsquo;est <a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.salon.com\/0003379\/2004\/03\/19.html#a111\" class=\"gen\">la revue de presse de Salon.com<\/a> qui rel\u00e8ve cette l\u00e9gislation de la Chambre, dans un commentaire o\u00f9 sont rassembl\u00e9es diverses remarques.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>House Democrats complained that they weren&rsquo;t party to the drafting of the resolution. Many agreed with Jim McGovern (D  Massachusetts), who said, I do not believe that the world is a safer, less dangerous place than it was one year ago.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>A few, such as Tom Lantos (D  California), were downright dismissive: The American people have not sent us here just to be an amen chorus for this administration. There are serious problems and we should be debating serious solutions.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>However, House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer (D  Maryland) had expected that most Democrats would vote in favor of the resolution as an expression of support for the troops and the Iraqis:<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>I believe the Iraq resolution is seen as congratulating our troops on the outstanding way in which they executed the war. In that context I would expect most to support the resolution &#8230; I am prepared personally to congratulate our troops. I&rsquo;m going to vote for it on that basis. I also want to encourage the Iraqi people to strive to achieve the kind of nation they want. Ainsi en est-il de cette organisation nomm\u00e9e <em>Presidential Prayer Team<\/em>, qui se pr\u00e9sente elle-m\u00eame comme \u00ab <em>a spiritual movement of the American people which is not affiliated with any political party or official<\/em> \u00bb,  et qui nous dit :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>As  members of the House of Representatives debate a resolution commending U.S. forces in Iraq, asserting that the United States and the world have been made safer with the removal of Saddam Hussein and his regime from power in Iraq, give thanks for the diligent efforts on the part of American troops.  Pray for the success of American efforts and for those Iraqis who are committed to bringing democracy to their country.  Give thanks, as well, for the successful defeat of Saddam Hussein and the liberation of those so markedly oppressed by his rule.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\tCes diverses indications contribuent joliment \u00e0 fixer le climat de Washington D.C. On comprend notamment que la fi\u00e8vre missionnaire n&rsquo;est pas r\u00e9serv\u00e9e au seul GW, et qu&rsquo;on n&rsquo;a pas tort si l&rsquo;on consid\u00e8re que le probl\u00e8me de notre grande crise est tout autant \u00e0 Washington que dans un bled perdu de l&rsquo;Afghanistan ou du Pakistan o\u00f9 se cacherait un nomm\u00e9 Ben Laden.
