\t27 mai 2004 L’Am\u00e9rique s’enfonce de plus en plus dans une crise psychologique d’une dimension colossale, aux implications qu’on ne peut pr\u00e9tendre une seconde mesurer par les seuls arguments et pr\u00e9visions de la raison. On acceptera comme un signe de cette \u00e9volution cet extraordinaire billet hebdomadaire du commentateur de CBS\/60 Minutes Andy Rooney, dit le 23 mai 2004 sur les ondes de CBS.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

The Revolution when we won our independence would be on the list. Beating Hitler. Putting Americans on the moon. We’ve had a lot of great days.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb Our darkest days up until now have been things like presidential assassinations, the stock market crash in 1929, Pearl Harbor, and 9-11, of course.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb The day the world learned that American soldiers had tortured Iraqi prisoners belongs high on the list of worst things that ever happened to our country. It’s a black mark that will be in the history books in a hundred languages for as long as there are history books. I hate to think of it.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb The image of one bad young woman with a naked man on a leash did more to damage America’s reputation than all the good things we’ve done over the years ever helped our reputation.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb What were the secrets they were trying to get from captured Iraqis? What important information did that poor devil on the leash have that he wouldn’t have given to anyone in exchange for a crust of bread or a sip of water?<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb Where were your officers? If someone told you to do it, tell us who told you. If your officers were told we should know who told them.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb One general said our guards were untrained. Well, untrained at what? Being human beings? Did the man who chopped off Nicholas Berg’s head do it because he was untrained?<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb The guards who tortured prisoners are faced with a year in prison. Well, great. A year for destroying our reputation as decent people.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb I don’t want them in prison, anyway. We shouldn’t have to feed them. Take away their right to call themselves American that’s what I’d do. You aren’t one of us. Get out. We don’t want you. Find yourself another country or a desert island somewhere. If the order came from someone higher up, take him with you.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb In the history of the world, several great civilizations that seemed immortal have deteriorated and died. I don’t want to seem dramatic tonight, but I’ve lived a long while, and for the first time in my life, I have this faint, faraway fear that it could happen to us here in America as it happened to the Greek and Roman civilizations.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Une atmosph\u00e8re cr\u00e9pusculaire qui frappe les psychologies et les pr\u00e9cipite dans une crise grave<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n

\tCette appr\u00e9ciation cr\u00e9pusculaire concernant le sort de l’Am\u00e9rique se retrouve de plus en plus souvent \u00e0 l’\u00e9tranger, comme par exemple dans ce commentaire du site indien New Today, \u00e9crit par V. Muthukumaran<\/a>, avec ce titre qui en r\u00e9sume l’esprit : \u00ab US on path of self-destruction<\/em> \u00bb. L’affaire des tortures et s\u00e9vices dans les prisons am\u00e9ricaines a caus\u00e9 des d\u00e9g\u00e2ts d’une ampleur consid\u00e9rable, que nous commen\u00e7ons \u00e0 peine \u00e0 mesurer, au niveau essentiel de la perception m\u00eame que nous avons des \u00c9tats-Unis, et de l’influence et du leadership<\/em> moral de ce pays par cons\u00e9quent. Chaque jour apporte un coup de plus contre les \u00c9tats-Unis, comme, aujourd’hui, ce rapport d’Amnesty International<\/a> qui condamne les USA pour violations graves des droits de l’homme et fait de la guerre contre la terreur le conflit le plus d\u00e9vastateur depuis 50 ans.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tCette perception, qui concerne essentiellement la psychologie, constitue un grave probl\u00e8me pour l’Am\u00e9rique. Ce pays \u00e0 la puissance mat\u00e9rielle consid\u00e9rable, a toujours montr\u00e9 une psychologie fragile, qui tient essentiellement \u00e0 son manque de profondeur historique. Du reste, les grands drames am\u00e9ricains le sont dans la mesure o\u00f9 la psychologie est frapp\u00e9e, comme dans l’attaque du 11 septembre 2001, ou comme dans l’effondrement de la Bourse de 1929.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tDe fa\u00e7on dramatique, les alertes constantes, qui prennent aujourd’hui un tour dramatique<\/a>, contre des possibles attaques terroristes, contribuent \u00e0 aggraver encore cette tension psychologique. L’absence d\u00e9sesp\u00e9rante d’un homme providentiel, entre deux candidats dont aucun ne provoque quoi que ce soit qui ressemble \u00e0 l’enthousiasme, interdit toute \u00e9chapp\u00e9e vers une perspective plus optimiste.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tLes experts, politologues, etc, devraient tenir compte de ce facteur psychologique pour envisager les prochains mois jusqu’aux pr\u00e9sidentielles, aux USA. Les conditions sont totalement in\u00e9dites dans l’histoire de ce pays. Leur gravit\u00e9, et surtout cette sorte de gravit\u00e9 li\u00e9e \u00e0 la fragilit\u00e9 psychologique, est \u00e9galement sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent. On conclut de cela que tout est possible d\u00e9sormais aux USA, y compris les \u00e9v\u00e9nements les plus extraordinaires. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n
