La derni\u00e8re en date est l&rsquo;\u00e9norme manifestation de l&rsquo;opposition et des anti-Syriens hier (le 14 mars \u00e9tait une date symbolique, un mois apr\u00e8s l&rsquo;assassinat de l&rsquo;ancien Premier ministre Hariri).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLe Los Angeles <em>Times<\/em>, le <em>The Times<\/em> de Londres, le Washington <em>Times<\/em>, entre autres, situent cette manifestation anti-syrienne largement au-del\u00e0 de celle du Hezbollah du 8 mars (\u00ab <em>The protest easily dwarfed the pro-Government rally of some 500,000, held last week by the Shia Muslim group Hezbollah<\/em> \u00bb, selon <em>The Times<\/em>). On peut \u00eatre s\u00fbr que les partisans du Hezbollah pourraient revendiquer que la manifestation des 500.000 du 8 mars en fait ne faisait pas 500.000, que les estimations allant jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 1.600.000 personnes avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 un peu trop vite \u00e9cart\u00e9es. Le Hezbollah a \u00e9t\u00e9 accus\u00e9 de faire venir des Syriens en bus pour manifester, les anti-Syriens riches (il n&rsquo;en manque pas dans cette r\u00e9volution \u00e9galement qualifi\u00e9e de r\u00e9volution BMW) d&#8217;emmener leur personnel asiatique, philippin, etc, aux manifestations. D&rsquo;ores et d\u00e9j\u00e0, avec les plus grandes manifestations additionn\u00e9es des camps adverses, on approche \u00e0 grands pas des 4.000.000 (nombre d&rsquo;habitants du Liban) et un jour, pourquoi pas, on les d\u00e9passera. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tUn commentaire plus int\u00e9ressant est celui de Juan Cole, signalant que, la veille, le Hezbollah avait organise une manifestation en province largement pass\u00e9e inaper\u00e7ue (<LIEn=http:\/\/www.reuters.com\/newsArticle.jhtml?type=worldNews&#038;storyID=7885615>Reuters<D> s&rsquo;en est fait l&rsquo;\u00e9cho: \u00ab <em>The spectacle of over half a million protesters coming out in Beirut while 200,000 to 300,000 came out on the other side in Nabatiya in the South the day before is worrisome, given Lebanon&rsquo;s recent history of sectarian violence.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLe commentaire de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.juancole.com\/\" class=\"gen\">Juan Cole<\/a> sur la situation libanaise \u00e9claire les points essentiels de cette situation :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>In the duel of the demonstrations in Lebanon, the political opposition (a coalition of Christians, Druze and some Sunni Arabs), brought out hundreds of thousands of demonstrators in downtown Beirut on Monday, the one-month anniversary of the assassination of former Lebanese PM Rafiq al-Hariri.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<D><em>Ash-Sharq al-Awsat says there had been a demonstration of 200,000 to 300,000 called by Hizbullah at the southern city of Nabatiyeh Sunday, this one made up largely of pro-Syrian Shiites. Reuters reported on this rally, but it was not widely covered in the US. At the Nabatiyeh demonstration, protesters held up placards saying \u00a0\u00bbUS Out!\u00a0\u00bb, mocking the Lebanese opposition slogan of \u00a0\u00bbSyria Out!\u00a0\u00bb<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<D><em>Lebanon isn&rsquo;t that big a country  the total population is a little less than 4 million. So by now most everybody must have been involved in a demonstration.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<D><em>The country appears deeply divided over how much presence Syria should have in Lebanon, and on where to place the blame for the death of former PM Hariri. a recent scientific poll by Zogby International, half of Maronites and Druze blame Syria for Hariri&rsquo;s death. Only 14% of Shiites do, while 70% of Shiites blame the US and Israel. Shiites are probably over 40 percent of the Lebanese population, while Maronites are probably only about 20 percent (Lebanon may now be as much as 70 percent Muslim if Druze are counted in that group).<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<D><em>The spectacle of over half a million protesters coming out in Beirut while 200,000 to 300,000 came out on the other side in Nabatiya in the South the day before is worrisome, given Lebanon&rsquo;s recent history of sectarian violence.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\tQui est plus fort que qui? Qui est plus nombreux que qui? Ces questions sont assez accessoires \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de l&rsquo;encha\u00eenement lui-m\u00eame et de la surench\u00e8re, de manifestation en manifestation, avec l&rsquo;atmosph\u00e8re de tension et d&rsquo;affrontement en train de se mettre en place parall\u00e8lement.
