Nicolas Sarkozy occupe \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard une place exceptionnelle. Il a acquis le c\u00e9l\u00e9brit\u00e9 outre-manche, dans la presse anglo-saxonne, voire dans la presse am\u00e9ricaine. C&rsquo;est peut-\u00eatre ce qu&rsquo;il cherche du point de vue de l&rsquo;effet, cela pourrait se r\u00e9v\u00e9ler moins satisfaisant du point de vue du contenu.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tCe qui passionne la presse \u00e9trang\u00e8re, c&rsquo;est la conjonction de deux faits. Le premier est la concurrence avec Chirac, qui remplit un vu affich\u00e9 des Anglo-Saxons que Chirac laisse sa place \u00e0 un concurrent jug\u00e9 mieux intentionn\u00e9 \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e9gard des Anglo-Saxons. (Tout cela, pure sp\u00e9culation.) Le second \u00e9l\u00e9ment, ce sont les ennuis conjugaux de Sarkozy, apportant un \u00e9l\u00e9ment intime bienvenu pour la justification de cet int\u00e9r\u00eat mais avec une dimension politique indiscutable. Exemple de cet int\u00e9r\u00eat, le texte de <a href=\"http:\/\/news.independent.co.uk\/europe\/article299050.ece\" class=\"gen\">The Independent du 15 juillet<\/a>, sous le titre : \u00ab <em>Sarkozy ridicules Chirac&rsquo;s &lsquo;pointless&rsquo; Bastille Day speech<\/em> \u00bb.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <MI>The Prime Minister, and Chirac loyalist, Dominique de Villepin, reportedly told the ministerial breakfast meeting that the President would have &quot;important&quot; comments to make on &quot;all subjects&quot;. According to accounts given by other ministers present, an &quot;agitated&quot; M. Sarkozy retorted: &quot;Perhaps he imagines that he is the only person with a right to speak.&quot;<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t(&#8230;.)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>M. Sarkozy&rsquo;s bravado &#8211; extreme even for him &#8211; has encouraged speculation that he might have been unsettled by troubles in his marriage. His friends say that he is deliberately adopting a high-profile &#8211; but also high-risk &#8211; policy of being in government and opposition at the same time. He is determined that his own popularity should not be damaged by association with M. Chirac, or M. de Villepin.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>How long President Chirac will be able to tolerate such open disloyalty, even mockery, is unclear.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>The Defence Minister, Mich\u00e8le Alliot-Marie, gave a public warning yesterday that the patience of M. Sarkozy&rsquo;s ministerial colleagues may be wearing thin. &quot;Those who were bowing and scraping to the President of the Republic a few weeks ago should tell themselves there is no point trying to weaken him with criticisms of this kind,&quot; she said.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p><p>\tCette popularit\u00e9 de Sarkozy, bas\u00e9e sur la pol\u00e9mique qu&rsquo;il alimente lui-m\u00eame dans divers domaines, pourrait \u00eatre consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme un grand avantage pour l&rsquo;adversaire de Chirac.
