Ils vous d\u00e9crivaient l’Europe : Blair \u00e0 la barre, \u00e9videmment ; \u00e0 sa droite Merkel, la nouvelle chanceli\u00e8re allemande et, au-dessus, Dieu-le-Fils, c’est-\u00e0-dire GW, inspirant cette nouvelle croisade pour la r\u00e9forme civilisatrice. Chirac \u00e9tait au fond de la classe, pr\u00e8s du radiateur, attendant que Sarkozy l’envoie rejoindre Schr\u00f6der \u00e0 l’asile des vieux qui n’ont rien compris. (Quelques ignares se demandaient si la chose \u00e9tait boucl\u00e9e<\/a>.)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tAujourd’hui, l’\u00e9lecteur allemand semble \u00eatre moins d’accord. Il trouve que madame Merkel fait beaucoup de gaffes et semble un peu manquer de maturit\u00e9. C’\u00e9tait donc bien cela : la question, pour les CDU-CSU, \u00e9tait de savoir jusqu’o\u00f9 ils pourraient ne pas faire campagne<\/a> pour qu’on ne distingue pas trop leurs faiblesses diverses, Merkel en t\u00eate ; et la r\u00e9ponse est de moins en moins encourageante, d’autant qu’il reste un gros mois de campagne avec au moins un face-\u00e0-face t\u00e9l\u00e9vis\u00e9 Merkel-Schr\u00f6der.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00ab The German conservative leader Angela Merkel’s chances of becoming the country’s first woman Chancellor appear to have weakened dramatically after opinion polls predicted she could no longer bank on winning this autumn’s general election with an absolute majority.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb A survey conducted by Germany’s Infratest Dimap organisation showed that Mrs Merkel’s Christian Democrats and their prospective liberal Free Democrat coalition partners would win only 48 per cent of the vote in the September election. It is the the first poll to show Mrs Merkel’s coalition falling short of a majority since she announced her decision to run for Chancellor.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
