Sous le titre : <em>May Be the Problem Is BAE<\/em>, Jolley avance l&rsquo;hypoth\u00e8se que les tracas de BAE dans le programme JSF, protestant contre l&rsquo;absence de transferts de technologies US vers la soci\u00e9t\u00e9 britannique, tient au fait que BAE n&rsquo;a rien \u00e0 offrir en \u00e9change<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tNotre hypoth\u00e8se est que Jolley exprime un sentiment plus r\u00e9pandu qu&rsquo;on croit \u00e0 Washington, au Pentagone et dans l&rsquo;industrie US, au point qu&rsquo;on pourrait croire qu&rsquo;il n&rsquo;en serait apr\u00e8s tout que le porte-parole. Au reste, est-ce tellement faux? BAE poursuit depuis pr\u00e8s de dix ans une politique bas\u00e9e sur le seul profit, avec les effets d\u00e9vastateurs qu&rsquo;on sait sur sa base technologique. Pour les Am\u00e9ricains, il n&rsquo;y a rien l\u00e0-dedans qui les pousse \u00e0 faire des cadeaux \u00e0 BAE.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tVoici le message de Jolley :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>British Aerospace&rsquo;s Chairman Dick Olver&rsquo;s plea for lifting U.S. technology controls begs the question, what can BAE Systems bring to the table (AW&#038;ST July 25, p. 66)?<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Even with existing U.S. controls in place, significant and unique technology comes from the U.K. through Rolls-Royce&rsquo;s supply of the lift fan and clutch system, a fundamental part of the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter. BAE&rsquo;s latest offering, the Eurofighter Typhoon, is judged as being barely competitive in today&rsquo;s military fighter market. The only way that BAE is adding significant leading edge technology is by acquiring North American established prime contractors that are deeply involved with advanced U.S. military programs.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Olver&rsquo;s complaint that, under the current U.S. rules, the U.K. will have difficulty in maintaining and upgrading its JSFs hardly rings true.
