Le site WSWS.org<\/em> revient sur l’un de ses th\u00e8mes favoris, qui est l’activisme des structures militaires US aux Etats-Unis m\u00eames, \u00e0 propos de la transformation de New Orleans en zone de guerre<\/a>. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tD’une part, le site note que les d\u00e9lais dans l’intervention humanitaire ont \u00e9t\u00e9 dus \u00e0 la pr\u00e9paration d’une intervention qui s’apparente \u00e0 une op\u00e9ration militaire d’investissement de la zone, o\u00f9 sont aujourd’hui rassembl\u00e9s 65.000 hommes : \u00ab It is becoming increasingly apparent that the disastrous delay in providing aid to the city’s beleaguered citizens was in large part a matter of waiting until this massive military force was ready to deploy.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tLes circonstances et les avatars de cette intervention sont d\u00e9taill\u00e9s dans l’analyse. Le constat y est fait, selon la conclusion tir\u00e9e, que l’appareil militaro-politique de Washington a jug\u00e9 que la catastrophe \u00e9tait une bonne occasion de mettre en place un exercice en grandeur nature de prise de contr\u00f4le d’une zone civile \u00e9tats-unienne par les militaires. (Il faut noter que cette th\u00e8se peut prendre place \u00e0 c\u00f4t\u00e9 de celle de Xymphora<\/a> sans la contredire. Plusieurs buts peuvent \u00eatre poursuivis \u00e0 la fois.)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00ab Just last month, the Washington Post published an article revealing that the US military’s Northern Command had developed a series of war plans for the military to take charge in domestic crises. While apparently these plans involved a response to supposed terrorist attacks, including the detonation of a nuclear device in a major American city, the catastrophe that struck New Orleans provided ideal conditions for testing the plans out.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb The growing reliance on the military, however, is a response neither to terrorist threats or natural catastrophes. On the international arena, the US ruling elite has turned toward the use of military aggression and the seizure of strategic assets and territories as a means of offsetting the relative decline of American capitalism’s position in the world economy.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb At home, the turn toward martial law is a manifestation of growing fears within America’s fabulously wealthy financial oligarchy that conditions of social polarization and the steady decline in the living standards of the vast majority of working people have created a social powder keg.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bb The deliberate denial of food, water and means of escape to tens of thousands of suffering New Orleanians in order to prepare a massive military exercise is a crime. It is moreover a warning that the deepening of the social crisis in America raises the threat of military repression and dictatorship.<\/em> \u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
