Phillips est un formidable politologue am\u00e9ricain, avec une exp\u00e9rience pratique (il fut le conseiller politique de la campagne Nixon en 1968) et une orientation politique nettement conservatrice. C&rsquo;est lui qui identifia la nouvelle majorit\u00e9 conservatrice am\u00e9ricaine qui \u00e9lut Nixon et qui, plus tard, \u00e9lut Reagan,  majorit\u00e9 regroupant les r\u00e9publicains et une partie des d\u00e9mocrates du Sud.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tCette majorit\u00e9 s&rsquo;est transform\u00e9e. Phillips pose son regard de politologue sur  ce nouveau ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne,  c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire un regard rationnel, presque scientifique, sur un ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne qu&rsquo;on juge en g\u00e9n\u00e9ral trop irrationnel pour en bien tenir compte : la transformation du parti r\u00e9publicain en premier parti religieux dans l&rsquo;histoire des \u00c9tats-Unis. Imagine-t-on ce que cela signifie? 40% de l&rsquo;\u00e9lectorat de GW, en m\u00eame temps que GW lui-m\u00eame et nombre de ses acolytes, et un bon nombre d&rsquo;\u00e9lus r\u00e9pondent \u00e0 cette d\u00e9finition : \u00ab <em>Many millions believe that the Armageddon described in the Bible is coming soon.
