C&rsquo;est un des sujets en apparence futiles que traite gravement, comme \u00e0 l&rsquo;habitude, le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/article\/0,,3-2196062,00.html\" class=\"gen\">Times<\/a> de Londres au moment du voyage de Blair \u00e0 Washington. Et puis non, Blair ne ram\u00e8nera pas sa m\u00e9daille cette fois encore. D&rsquo;ailleurs, il semble qu&rsquo;elle ne soit pas pr\u00eate puisqu&rsquo;on h\u00e9siterait encore \u00e0 propos de l&rsquo;inscription \u00e0 mettre sur son envers.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tAffaire grotesque mais symptomatique. Le r\u00e8gne de Tony Blair se tra\u00eene p\u00e9niblement sur son terme dans une atmosph\u00e8re de g\u00eane et de d\u00e9sarroi incroyables. Comment accepter sa popularit\u00e9 \u00e0 Washington sans que Londres s&rsquo;en fasse trop l&rsquo;\u00e9cho, pour ne pas aggraver encore l&rsquo;impopularit\u00e9 du PM et ne pas susciter l&rsquo;une ou l&rsquo;autre d\u00e9sagr\u00e9able manifestation publique, en m\u00eame temps qu&rsquo;accentuer la division et l&rsquo;impopularit\u00e9 du parti travailliste? <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tD\u00e9cid\u00e9ment, cette affaire de m\u00e9daille n&rsquo;est pas qu&rsquo;une simple frivolit\u00e9 symbolique Bush et Blair \u00ab <em>will discuss Iraq, Iran and Afghanistan, but the Prime Minister will once again leave without the Congressional Gold Medal awarded to him three years ago for his steadfast support of America after 9\/11. This is no mere oversight. Although the US Administration publicly insists that the medal is still at the design stage, senior Washington sources now acknowledge that Downing Street is deliberately dragging its feet over receiving the honour. <\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Aides working for Senator Elizabeth Dole, who was one of the sponsors of Mr Blair&rsquo;s award, have told The Times that the problem is at the British end. It certainly does not take more than a thousand days to mint a medal: Nelson Mandela received his award in 56 days.
