On attaque un gros rassemblement de talibans. L&rsquo;importance de l&rsquo;objectif conduit \u00e0 la s\u00e9lection d&rsquo;effectifs alli\u00e9s importants, \u00e0 une planification minutieuse et \u00e0 un d\u00e9ploiement massif et voyant. Ca laisse du temps aux talibans pour prendre les mesures qui s&rsquo;imposent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tL&rsquo;autre aspect  de l&rsquo;op\u00e9ration est son aspect de relations publiques. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 mont\u00e9e et pr\u00e9par\u00e9e \u00e0 l&rsquo;insistance du Pentagone, surtout de Rumsfeld qui en a assez d&rsquo;entendre des nouvelles d\u00e9crivant l&rsquo;aggravation de la situation en Afghanistan. Rumsfeld exigeait des initiatives qui permettent de changer le sens des articles de la presse <em>mainstream<\/em>. Lors de son r\u00e9cent voyage en Afghanistan, il a exig\u00e9 que le d\u00e9clenchement de l&rsquo;op\u00e9ration soit pr\u00e9cipit\u00e9. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tQuelques mots du <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/afghanistan\/story\/0,,1822130,00.html\" class=\"gen\">Guardian<\/a> pour nous d\u00e9crire cette affaire :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>The US-led assault in Helmand made it clear that British troops are fully engaged in conflict in Afghanistan and not just in supporting civilian reconstruction.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Apache gunships launched the attack, followed by Chinook helicopters that ferried British troops into a residential area. Around 600 Canadian ground troops sealed the southern approaches to the Sangin valley in Helmand province west of Kandahar while US troops blocked the northern end.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>According to reports in the Canadian media, the troops found most insurgents had fled the dawn attack, which was intended to catch them unawares. On arrival, the infantry fought a short battle in which 10 Taliban were killed, said the Canadian coalition spokesman Major Scott Lundy. The initial contact was somewhat smaller than had been anticipated.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Military intelligence had predicted they would find up to 400 Taliban insurgents but most slipped away.
