Nous avons le choix : erreurs isra\u00e9liennes concernant le Hezbollah, erreurs concernant Saddam et ses ADM, concernant les capacit\u00e9s de r\u00e9surgence des Talibans, concernant les islamistes en Somalie, concernant le succ\u00e8s \u00e9lectoral du Hamas, concernant la rupture de l&rsquo;Ouzbekistan et ainsi de suite.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tPourquoi toutes ces erreurs? interroge Rashid. Il cite l&rsquo;accent mis sur la technologie mais il va plus loin. Pourquoi cet accent mis sur la technologie? A quoi correspond cette attitude? Redoutable question. La technologie est notre cr\u00e9ation et elle nous suffit pour comprendre le monde et le ma\u00eetriser. Au centre, au cur de l&rsquo;explication  de la d\u00e9marche occidentale (am\u00e9ricaniste, certes), ce seul mot suffit : arrogance. Ce mot d\u00e9finit une \u00e9poque de sottise, d&rsquo;erreurs catastrophiques, d&rsquo;injustices insupportables, d&rsquo;aveuglement. L&rsquo;analyse est si \u00e9vidente<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>A cultural arrogance seems to have set in with Western diplomatic services and intelligence agencies. They no longer take the trouble or time to understand why people would spend six years building tunnels or sending out suicide bombers.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Just as the present U.S. administration is incapable of getting to know the local conditions and aspirations of the countries they are dealing with in the Muslim world, spy agencies have also lost the patience to do so.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Governments and spy agencies also ignore what is staring them in the face every morning at breakfast  their newspapers. All the situations above that intelligence agencies failed to see coming had been predicted by journalists.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb <em>Journalists wrote about how the Taliban were recruiting in Pakistan and Afghanistan, how the mullahs were slowly winning support in Somalia, and how Hamas and Hezbollah had learned from past wars with Israel.
