Tom Engelhardt est de ceux-l\u00e0.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLisez donc sa chronique sur <em>Antiwar.com<\/em> de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.antiwar.com\/engelhardt\/?articleid=9970\" class=\"gen\">ce jour<\/a>. Engelhardt d\u00e9cortique le montage g\u00e9n\u00e9ral qui fait que la d\u00e9cision de la condamnation \u00e0 mort de Saddam (pardon, le verdict du proc\u00e8s de Saddam) tombe avec un bruit tonitruant le 5 novembre, deux jours avant le 7 (oui oui, c&rsquo;est math\u00e9matique et chronologique), alors qu&rsquo;un juge irakien un peu primesautier avait d&rsquo;abord pr\u00e9vu l&rsquo;annonce pour le 16 octobre. On s&rsquo;\u00e9tait aper\u00e7u, par go\u00fbt de justice bien faite, qu&rsquo;une preuve ou l&rsquo;autre de la culpabilit\u00e9 du monstre restait \u00e0 v\u00e9rifier et on avait postpos\u00e9, \u00f4 comme vont bien les choses d\u00e9mocratiques, justement, par hasard le calendrier, ce 5 novembre. Le hasard et la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9, disons.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tEngelhardt nous rappelle que m\u00eame le porte-parole de la Maison-Blanche avait admis que ce serait une tr\u00e8s bonne chose si, comme par hasard, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire hasard et n\u00e9cessit\u00e9 divine, l&rsquo;annonce de la condamnation, pardon du verdict, tombait juste avant l&rsquo;\u00e9lection.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab <em>and White House Press Spokesman Tony Snow, when asked last week by CNBC&rsquo;s Larry Kudlow whether the verdict would be a November surprise, even welcomed the question, as well as the prospective verdict, this way:<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>[Y]ou are absolutely right, it will be a factor. But you know what, it may fit into a larger narrative about an Iraqi government that has been doing what the president has said all along which is developing the capacity to sustain itself, defend itself and govern itself and to help us out on the war on terror.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tEngelhardt d\u00e9nonce tous ces canards <em>mainstream<\/em> US (la presse MSM) qui n&rsquo;ont m\u00eame pas d\u00e9mont\u00e9 la manuvre, sans parler de la d\u00e9noncer, depuis que la chose est annonc\u00e9e. Lisez donc son texte et cette p\u00e9roraison aussi lugubre que les murs des temps cr\u00e9pusculaires que nous vivons  et dites-vous bien ceci : nous sommes tous les otages de ces imb\u00e9ciles.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>I have little doubt that, weeks, months, or years from now, we&rsquo;ll learn just who carried off this particular administration political ploy  and just how. In the meantime, this is but another small, pathetic tale of how the mainstream media has failed its readers and viewers, blindly and blandly spreading yet another administration fiction about the increasingly fictional land of, and government&rsquo; of, Iraq.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Look far and wide for a blunt account of this fiasco in the normal outlets. You&rsquo;ll do so in vain. If you&rsquo;re curious, take a look instead at what <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/riverbendblog.blogspot.com\/2006_11_01_riverbendblog_archive.html#116274961239136314\" class=\"gen\">Riverbend<\/a>, <em>the girl blogger of Baghdad, has to say today about the verdict, about what it&rsquo;s like  in an Iraq at its very worst since the invasion  to experience firsthand the frustration of feeling like the whole country and every single Iraqi inside and outside of Iraq is at the mercy of American politics.
