Ainsi en est-il des d\u00e9cisions concernant l&rsquo;appareil politico-militaire US autour de l&rsquo;Irak. <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tUn point a attir\u00e9 l&rsquo;attention : la nomination de l&rsquo;amiral Fallon, U.S. Navy, \u00e0 la succession du g\u00e9n\u00e9ral Abizaid, U.S. Army, comme chef du Central Command (commandement couvrant le Moyen-Orient, dont l&rsquo;Irak). Cette nomination est compl\u00e8tement inhabituelle, parce que le poste de commandant en chef du Central Command (CinCCent) va normalement \u00e0 l&rsquo;U.S. Army ou au Marine Corps, qui sont effectivement les deux armes principalement impliqu\u00e9es en Irak. Elle constitue une indication tr\u00e8s nette de l&rsquo;opposition de nombre d&rsquo;officiers g\u00e9n\u00e9raux de l&rsquo;Army et du Marine Corps au conflit en Irak et aux intentions strat\u00e9giques de l&rsquo;administration (renforcement en Irak, \u00e9ventuellement attaque contre l&rsquo;Iran). Elle va accentuer la diff\u00e9rence de vision et d&rsquo;int\u00e9r\u00eats entre les deux armes terrestres (Army et Marine Corps) et les deux armes strat\u00e9giques (Navy et USAF).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tFallon est actuellement commandant en chef de th\u00e9\u00e2tre (CinC), commandant la zone Pacifique (CinCPac). Les deux guerres (Afghanistan et Irak) vont passer sous son commandement direct alors qu&rsquo;elles \u00e9taient d\u00e9j\u00e0 proches de son commandement du point de vue de la Navy (CinCPac contr\u00f4le indirectement la V\u00e8me Flotte de l&rsquo;Oc\u00e9an Indien, qui a sous sa juridiction l&rsquo;espace naval des conflits du Moyen-Orient). Fallon apporte la vision strat\u00e9gique de la marine, ce qui alimente les sp\u00e9culations selon lesquelles il sera plus appel\u00e9 \u00e0 Central Command pour un futur conflit contre l&rsquo;Iran que pour les conflits en cours.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tC&rsquo;est l&rsquo;analyse que privil\u00e9gie <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wsws.org\/articles\/2007\/jan2007\/iraq-j06.shtml\" class=\"gen\">aujourd&rsquo;hui<\/a> le site <em>WSWS.org<\/em> :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>Replacing Abizaid is Admiral William Fallon, the US commander in the Pacific. The appointment of Fallon, a senior naval officer, is widely viewed as an indication that the administration intends to accelerate its preparations for a military attack on Iran, in which the Navy&rsquo;s cruise missiles and aircraft carrier-based warplanes are expected to play a central role.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLe <em>Times<\/em> de Londres nous dit \u00e0 peu pr\u00e8s la m\u00eame chose dans ses \u00e9ditions <a href=\"http:\/\/www.timesonline.co.uk\/newspaper\/0,,175-2533292,00.html\" class=\"gen\">du jour<\/a> :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>Mr Bush also intends to endorse Admiral William Fallon to head US Central Command, replacing General John Abizaid as the top military commander for the Middle East. The choice of Admiral Fallon surprised some in the Pentagon as it would place a naval official with little experience of the Middle East in charge of two ground wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. But it also signalled a growing focus on the threat from Iran.
