Une nouvelle enqu\u00eate est lanc\u00e9e par le SFO contre BAE, cette fois concernant une tractation r\u00e9alis\u00e9e en 1999 avec l&rsquo;Afrique du Sud (le choix par l&rsquo;Afrique du Sud, contre l&rsquo;avis de la force a\u00e9rienne sud-africaine, de l&rsquo;avion d&rsquo;entra\u00eenement BAE <em>Hawk<\/em>).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLe <em>Guardian<\/em>, \u00e9galement tr\u00e8s impliqu\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;appr\u00e9ciation critique \u00e0 l&rsquo;encontre de la firme BAE, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/armstrade\/story\/0,,1983976,00.html \" class=\"gen\">d\u00e9taille<\/a> la d\u00e9cision du SFO de se lancer dans cette enqu\u00eate. Il appara\u00eet \u00e9vident que le SFO n&rsquo;a gu\u00e8re appr\u00e9ci\u00e9 qu&rsquo;il lui ait \u00e9t\u00e9 impos\u00e9 d&rsquo;arr\u00eater son enqu\u00eate sur <em>Yamamah<\/em>. Il semble qu&rsquo;une guerre soit engag\u00e9e entre ce service de r\u00e9pression de la corruption et BAE. Les fonctionnaires du SFO estiment que leur cr\u00e9dit et leur statut sont engag\u00e9s dans cet affrontement par BAE, et ils estiment d&rsquo;autre part que c&rsquo;est l&rsquo;influence de BAE sur le gouvernement britannique, et notamment sur Blair, qui a abouti \u00e0 la d\u00e9cision du 14 d\u00e9cembre (arr\u00eat de l&rsquo;enqu\u00eate <em>Yamamah<\/em>). Comme, d&rsquo;autre part, le cas <em>Yamamah<\/em> n&rsquo;est pas compl\u00e8tement clos, comme d&rsquo;autres enqu\u00eates sur BAE par le SFO s&rsquo;annoncent pour d&rsquo;autres transactions, cette guerre pourrait devenir un cas int\u00e9ressant.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>Last night it emerged that South Africa&rsquo;s organised crime unit, the Scorpions, was handling a \u00a0\u00bbmutual legal assistance\u00a0\u00bb request from the SFO to investigate the financial accounts of Fana Hlongwane, a politically well-connected businessman, in relation to the 1999 deal. Mr Hlongwane is a former special adviser to the then South African defence minister, Joe Modise, who died in 2001.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Mr Modise has been named in allegations of corruption, including claims that he took a \u00a3500,000 bribe from BAE and $10m from a German consortium that signed a contract to sell submarines. The SFO is also investigating John Bredenkamp, a tycoon who is BAE&rsquo;s agent in southern Africa and whose UK home and offices were raided in October. South African sources said yesterday that SFO detectives were expected to travel to Pretoria within weeks.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Details of the investigation emerged soon after the UK government abruptly halted an SFO inquiry into alleged bribes paid by BAE to Saudi royals. Tony Blair claimed Britain&rsquo;s security would be endangered if the investigation continued, prompting criticism that the Saudi regime had blackmailed the British government and that BAE was above the law.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t()<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Norman Lamb, a Liberal Democrat frontbencher, said the investigation in South Africa showed that the SFO still poses a danger to BAE. If BAE think they are in the clear, they could be very wrong. If they were cock-a-hoop over the Saudi decision, they may have partied too soon.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>The SFO is also pursuing its investigations into allegations that BAE made corrupt payments to politicians and officials in Tanzania, Chile, the Czech Republic and Romania.
