Son article au titre significatif  \u00ab<em>How Tehran got the upper hand<\/em>\u00bb  est publi\u00e9 dans l&rsquo;International <em>Herald Tribune<\/em> de <a href=\"http:\/\/www.iht.com\/articles\/2007\/02\/02\/opinion\/edhill.php\" class=\"gen\">ce jour<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tHill d\u00e9crit l&rsquo;\u00e9trange aventure des occasions sans nombre perdues par l&rsquo;administration GW Bush, qui savait d\u00e8s l&rsquo;origine que l&rsquo;Iran \u00e9tait son principal concurrent pour l&rsquo;h\u00e9g\u00e9monie du Moyen-Orient. En gardant la r\u00e9duction de ce r\u00f4le de l&rsquo;Iran pour objectif seulement final, l&rsquo;administration GW n&rsquo;a cess\u00e9 d&rsquo;agir d&rsquo;une fa\u00e7on telle que <strong>tous<\/strong> les effets de son action ont contribu\u00e9 \u00e0 renforcer la position de l&rsquo;Iran. Ironie, et m\u00eame ironie des ironies, \u00e9crit Hill<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>The Bush\/Cheney build-up against Iran is taking shape. The terrible irony is that there are much more persuasive grounds for a full- scale confrontation, if not necessarily full- fledged war, with Iran than there were against Saddam Hussein&rsquo;s regime in Iraq. And irony of ironies: the ability of the United States to lead a serious campaign against Iran&rsquo;s newly emboldened regime has been undermined significantly by the Bush administration&rsquo;s own failings and lack of strategic vision.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Briefly, five critical mistakes by the White House placed political and ideological aims ahead of the national interest, and left the United States in a weaker position to deal with Iran&rsquo;s growing assertiveness and lack of respect for U.S. power.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tSuit la litanie des erreurs de l&rsquo;administration GW, un catalogue, un floril\u00e8ge, un manuel d&rsquo;instruction pour le parfait \u00e9chec d&rsquo;une grande politique internationale. Hauteur? Voire.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>Robert Gates, the new Secretary of Defense, was candid enough to admit that the U.S. would be the supplicant if U.S.-Iran discussions were held now. What a result for the Bush\/Cheney team as leaders of the sole superpower in the world!<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tPourtant, note encore Hill, insinuant que, de toutes les fa\u00e7ons, rien d&rsquo;autre n&rsquo;est en v\u00e9rit\u00e9 possible,  pourtant, il faudrait bien finir par parler avec les Iraniens, parce qu&rsquo;il ne reste plus rien \u00e0 perdre<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>Not having exhausted diplomatic and economic means to deal with Iraq before invading in 2003, it is hard to believe that Bush and Cheney would resort to force without exploring all nonmilitary options.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>What do you have to lose? former Congressman Lee Hamilton asked recently. Can the situation get any worse? Are we so fearful that by sitting down with Iran and Syria we will give away the store? That shows a total lack of confidence in our diplomatic ability.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tCet article int\u00e9ressant refl\u00e8te l&rsquo;opinion d&rsquo;une part tr\u00e8s importante de la communaut\u00e9 des experts \u00e0 Washington.
