L&rsquo;est-il? On a d\u00e9j\u00e0 vu cette sorte de ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne, par exercice courant de courroie de transmission. L&rsquo;auteur pourra toujours plaider la circonstance d&rsquo;un \u00e9v\u00e9nement inhabituel de transmission d&rsquo;arguments par la pens\u00e9e.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tActuellement, et notamment en marge de la conf\u00e9rence de la  <em>Wehrkunde<\/em> de Munich, on se trouve face \u00e0 une pouss\u00e9e notable de propagande US, directement machin\u00e9e par le Pentagone. La chose est clairement pr\u00e9sent\u00e9e comme une tentative de retour \u00e0 l&rsquo;offensive culturelle anti-communiste de la Guerre froide, si bien d\u00e9taill\u00e9e par Frances Stonor Saunders dans <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dedefensa.org\/article.php?art_id=162\" class=\"gen\">son livre<\/a> <em>Who paid the piper ?<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tL&rsquo;article de Traynor, \u00e9crit dans le style Guerre froide le plus significatif, utilise des arguments de la m\u00eame eau. Il pr\u00e9sente l&rsquo;engagement des Tch\u00e8ques et des Polonais dans le r\u00e9seau anti-missiles US comme une mesure d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9e de deux nations aux abois face aux menaces russes quasiment mises sur le m\u00eame pied que l&rsquo;expansionnisme sovi\u00e9tique. La grossi\u00e8ret\u00e9 du propos mesure l&rsquo;intensit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;offensive de propagande \u00e0 laquelle les Britanniques notamment,  y compris le <em>Guardian<\/em> comme on le voit  se pr\u00eatent, avec obligeance ou inconscience c&rsquo;est selon. Tous les poncifs, les mensonges historiques habituels (l&rsquo;Europe de l&rsquo;Est trahie par l&rsquo;Europe occidentale), le m\u00e9pris pour les proc\u00e9dures les plus fondamentales (cette remarque si d\u00e9mocratique : \u00ab<em>Public opinion is hostile or wary. They have been warning for years that Russia will return as a world power and not necessarily as a benign and allied democracy. They feel vindicated by developments under Vladimir Putin.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>When the cold war ended with the central Europeans kicking out the Russians, the former Warsaw Pact countries were left in a security vacuum. Russia wanted to create a cordon sanitaire in Europe between itself and the EU and Nato. For the central Europeans, western integration became a national imperative to keep Russia at bay.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>The former Soviet satellites were brought into Nato in the 1990s and the EU in 2004. But while happy to be members, the Poles and the Czechs are the biggest Eurosceptics of the 10 countries that joined in 2004. They are suspicious of the Germans and patronised by the French. They share the British preferences for the EU, for strong transatlantic ties, minimal political union and no fiscal harmonisation.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>They would never turn to Germany or France for security. They see America as indispensable, their security guarantor of last resort. The bases put the Americans in Poland and the Czech Republic as never before. Public opinion is hostile or wary.
