Il est int\u00e9ressant, apr\u00e8s notre <a class=\"gen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dedefensa.org\/article.php?art_id=3752\">nouvelle<\/a> d&rsquo;hier dans cette rubrique, de voir les remarques qu&rsquo;on y trouvait sur l&rsquo;attitude de l&rsquo;U.S. Navy renforc\u00e9es par une d\u00e9p\u00eache d&rsquo;AFP (relay\u00e9e par <a class=\"gen\" href=\"http:\/\/rawstory.com\/news\/afp\/US_aircraft_carrier_has_no_plans_to_02252007.html\">RAW Story<\/a>). Il s&rsquo;agit de quelques notes d&rsquo;un reportage du correspondant d&rsquo;AFP \u00e0 bord du porte-avions USS <em>John C. Stennis<\/em>, le deuxi\u00e8me grand porte-avions d&rsquo;attaque (classe <em>Nimitz<\/em>, 90.000 tonnes) arriv\u00e9 avec son groupe d&rsquo;attaque dans le Golfe Persique, apr\u00e8s le groupe du USS <em>Dwight D. Eisenhower<\/em>. (La d\u00e9p\u00eache pr\u00e9cise que le groupe <em>Stennis<\/em>, &mdash; Carrier Strike Group Three, &mdash; est arriv\u00e9 dans le Golfe d&rsquo;Oman le 19 f\u00e9vrier, qu&rsquo;il mouille \u00e0 200 kilom\u00e8tres au large des c\u00f4tes du Pakistan, avec cette pr\u00e9cision suppl\u00e9mentaire et significative : &laquo;<em>in what the US Navy says is a mission to provide support for ground forces operating in Afghanistan and Iraq<\/em>&raquo;)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Cette d\u00e9p\u00eache est \u00e9tonnante en ce sens qu&rsquo;elle ne cesse de citer les officiers qui dirigent l&rsquo;unit\u00e9 (le capitaine de vaisseau Bradley E. Johanson, qui commande le porte-avions, et le contre-amiral Kevin M. Quinn, qui commande le groupe d&rsquo;attaque Carrier Strike Group Three) dans le sens tr\u00e8s apaisant de l&rsquo;affirmation d&rsquo;aucune intention agressive \u00e0 l&rsquo;encontre de l&rsquo;Iran. C&rsquo;est une dialectique quasiment contraire \u00e0 celle des dirigeants politiques (&laquo;<em>all the options are on the table<\/em>&raquo;) mais par contre accord\u00e9e \u00e0 celle du secr\u00e9taire \u00e0 la d\u00e9fense Gates (pas question d&rsquo;attaquer l&rsquo;Iran), &mdash; auquel un des officiers se r\u00e9f\u00e8re nomm\u00e9ment et d&rsquo;une mani\u00e8re entendue, contrastant sans doute avec ce qu&rsquo;il aurait pu dire d&rsquo;un Rumsfeld dans cette circonstance. On y trouve effectivement confirmation des remarques publi\u00e9es <a class=\"gen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dedefensa.org\/article.php?art_id=3752\">hier<\/a> sur l&rsquo;attitude de l&rsquo;U.S. Navy.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Ce qui est remarquable, c&rsquo;est l&rsquo;insistance des officiers \u00e0 mettre en \u00e9vidence que la mission de ce groupe d&rsquo;attaque est le soutien des forces en Irak et en Afghanistan (jusqu&rsquo;\u00e0 \u00e9voquer le d\u00e9tail implicite des instructions re\u00e7ues de l&rsquo;amiraut\u00e9: &laquo;<em>We have received very explicit guidance that we will not assume any sort of escalatory posture with Iran<\/em>&raquo;, selon le commandant du porte-avions; &laquo;<em>There was no word in my tasking to come over here that had anything to do with Iran<\/em>&raquo;, selon le contre-amiral commandant le groupe). Ce qui est encore plus remarquable est l&rsquo;acc\u00e8s donn\u00e9 aux journalistes sur une unit\u00e9 dans un segment de sa mission aussi sensible, politiquement et m\u00e9diatiquement. Il n&rsquo;y a aucun doute qu&rsquo;il y a l\u00e0 une intention politique d&rsquo;affirmer effectivement une position sp\u00e9cifique de l&rsquo;U.S. Navy (dans les forces arm\u00e9es US, les contacts directs avec la presse dans ces circonstances sont tr\u00e8s pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment contr\u00f4l\u00e9s par la force elle-m\u00eame, selon une politique d\u00e9lib\u00e9r\u00e9e ; on est donc fond\u00e9 dans ce cas \u00e0 y \u00ab\u00a0lire\u00a0\u00bb un message politique).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Voici quelques extraits significatifs de cette d\u00e9p\u00eache :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&laquo;<em>To the deafening roar of war planes taking off from the nuclear-powered US aircraft carrier USS John C. Johanson said the vessel was in the region to reassure Washington&rsquo;s key oil-rich Arab allies in the Gulf Cooperation Council.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&raquo;<em>\u00ab\u00a0We have received very explicit guidance that we will not assume any sort of escalatory posture with Iran,\u00a0\u00bb Johanson told AFP as an F\/A-18F Super Hornet took off heading north in the direction of Pakistan and Afghanistan.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&raquo;<em>On the flight deck, which is over 300 metres (yards) long, dozens of sailors worked non-stop to prepare for the take-off of the next fighter jet whose engine was roaring in anticipation.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&raquo;<em>\u00ab\u00a0No sort of escalatory posture at all with Iran,\u00a0\u00bb Johanson reiterated. \u00ab\u00a0Our mission is not to go and intimidate Iran.
