Avec ses divers succ\u00e8s m\u00e9diatiques depuis le <a class=\"gen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.dedefensa.org\/article.php?art_id=4002\">mois de mai<\/a>, Ron Paul figure de plus en plus comme un \u00ab\u00a0<em>outsider<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb extr\u00eamement repr\u00e9sentatif de l&rsquo;\u00e9tat d&rsquo;esprit de l&rsquo;Am\u00e9rique anti-syst\u00e8me, d&rsquo;une \u00ab\u00a0Am\u00e9rique en col\u00e8re\u00a0\u00bb contre sa repr\u00e9sentation nationale.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Un article consid\u00e9rable (30.500 signes) de Christopher Caldwell dans le New York <em>Times<\/em> du <a class=\"gen\" href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2007\/07\/22\/magazine\/22Paul-t.html?\">22 juillet<\/a> dresse un portrait tr\u00e8s large, psychologique et politique, de la fa\u00e7on dont ce candidat \u00ab\u00a0marginal\u00a0\u00bb par excellence devient de plus en plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment le candidat anti-syst\u00e8me, avec notamment la difficult\u00e9 de rassembler sous son nom des \u00e9lectorats de tendances tr\u00e8s vari\u00e9es, certains originaux, certains contradictoires, certains infr\u00e9quentables&hellip; L&rsquo;article d\u00e9crit les difficult\u00e9s paradoxales de la campagne de Paul: comment conserver le \u00ab\u00a0message\u00a0\u00bb du candidat alors qu&rsquo;il est applaudi et soutenu par tant de groupes de tendances diff\u00e9rentes, oppos\u00e9es, etc. (Un dirigeant d&rsquo;un groupe de la campagne de Paul envoyant ce message d\u00e9sesp\u00e9r\u00e9 : &laquo;<em>We&rsquo;re in a difficult position of working on a campaign that draws supporters from laterally opposing points of view, and we have the added bonus of attracting every wacko fringe group in the country&#8230;.We absolutely must focus on Ron&rsquo;s message only and put aside all other agendas, which anyone can save for the next &lsquo;Star Trek&rsquo; convention or whatever.<\/em>&raquo;)<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Sur l&rsquo;homme lui-m\u00eame, beaucoup de louanges: une grande rigueur intellectuelle, un soutien sans faille aux principes constitutionnels, le refus de la gloriole personnelle. C&rsquo;est \u00e9videmment le portrait d&rsquo;un homme politique conforme aux enseignements des P\u00e8res Fondateurs, plut\u00f4t isolationniste, anti-interventionniste, hostile au gouvernement f\u00e9d\u00e9ral. Un portrait id\u00e9al pour la circonstance, qui am\u00e8ne in\u00e9vitablement sous la plume de Caldwell la r\u00e9f\u00e9rence au James Stewart du fameux <em>Mr. Smith Goes to Washington<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>Quoi qu&rsquo;il en soit, la chose est s\u00e9rieuse, et Caldwell ne le dissimule pas une seconde. Encha&icirc;nant sur la citation concernant le \u00ab\u00a0message\u00a0\u00bb de Ron Paul, il termine par ce paragraphe qui sera d\u00e9sormais souvent cit\u00e9 pour caract\u00e9riser cette candidature :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>&laquo;<em>But what is \u00ab\u00a0Ron&rsquo;s message\u00a0\u00bb? Whatever the campaign purports to be about, the main thing it has done thus far is to serve as a clearinghouse for voters who feel unrepresented by mainstream Republicans and Democrats. The antigovernment activists of the right and the antiwar activists of the left have many differences, maybe irreconcilable ones. But they have a lot of common beliefs too, and their numbers &mdash; and anger &mdash; are of a considerable magnitude. Ron Paul will not be the next president of the United States.
