Pour conclure l’aventure des porte-avions US dans le Golfe dans ces mois de juillet et août, dont nous avions fait une analyse dans un F&C<\/em> le 18 juillet<\/a> sous le titre «le porte-avions volant<\/em>», voici les derni\u00e8res nouvelles en provenance du Golfe, par l’AFP relay\u00e9e par SpaceWar.com<\/em> en date du 1er août<\/a>. Il semble, d’apr\u00e8s cette d\u00e9p\u00eache :<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

• Que le USS Enterprise<\/em> et son groupe de combat sont arriv\u00e9s ce 1er août dans le Golfe, passant sous commandement de la V\u00e8me Flotte.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

• Qu’entre temps les USS Nimitz<\/em> et USS John C. Stennis<\/em> et leurs groupes de combat avaient quitt\u00e9 la zone \u00ab\u00a0courant juillet\u00a0\u00bb, ce qui a laiss\u00e9 l’U.S. Navy sans un seul groupe de porte-avions dans la zone pendant quelques jours.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

• Que l’U.S. Navy n’a pour l’instant aucun plan pour d\u00e9ployer un deuxi\u00e8me groupe de porte-avions en plus du groupe Enterprise<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

… L’amiral Fallon, commandant du U.S. Central Command, semble donc avoir effectivement pris ses pr\u00e9cautions pour qu’il n’y ait pas d’attaque contre l’Iran \u00ab\u00a0sous son commandement\u00a0\u00bb<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

«The USS Enterprise aircraft carrier arrived in Gulf waters on Wednesday to conduct security operations and provide air support to ground troops operating in Afghanistan and Iraq, the US Navy said.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

«The nuclear-powered Enterprise and its strike group have replaced the USS Nimitz and USS Stennis, which both left the region in July, a spokesperson told AFP. In January the United States said it planned to keep two carrier battle groups in the Gulf for months — the first such deployment since 2003.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n
