Elle met aussi les princpes du lib\u00e9ralisme bien-aim\u00e9 dans une position bien d\u00e9licate.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLe gouvernement intervient maintenant massivement dans la crise, notamment aupr\u00e8s de Northern Rock. Le gouvernement garantit d\u00e9sormais les d\u00e9p\u00f4ts des clients de la banque, pour tenter d&rsquo;enrayer la ru\u00e9e des retraits; il n&rsquo;est pas loin de concr\u00e9tiser cette garantie sur les divers biens de la banque. On n&rsquo;est plus tr\u00e8s loin par cons\u00e9quent, comme le notent des analystes de la City, d&rsquo;une nationalisation <em>de facto<\/em> de la 5\u00e8me banque britannique et ex-<em>darling of the City<\/em> et de ses principes ultra-lib\u00e9raux.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tBeaucoup de symboles dans cette crise, qui est v\u00e9ritablement une crise ponctuelle renvoyant \u00e0 la crise g\u00e9n\u00e9rale de la globalisation. D\u00e9sormais, avec d&rsquo;autres banques de plus en plus durement secou\u00e9es, c&rsquo;est tout le syst\u00e8me bancaire du Royaume-Uni qui est en cause. La crise est d\u00e9sormais consid\u00e9r\u00e9e comme sans pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent depuis le XIX\u00e8me si\u00e8cle. Elle est consid\u00e9r\u00e9e \u00e9galement, outre ses rapports avec la crise de la  gglobalisation, comme une crise fondametale du syst\u00e8me mis en place par Thatcher et d\u00e9velopp\u00e9 d\u00e9mesur\u00e9ment par Blair.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>In an attempt to calm the panic, Alistair Darling, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, said: Should it be necessary, we, with the Bank of England, would put in place arrangements to guarantee all the existing deposits in Northern Rock during the current instability. This means people can continue to take their money out of Northern Rock but if they choose to leave their money in Northern Rock it will be guaranteed safe and secure.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Mr Darling said that if forced to, the Government would use Northern Rock&rsquo;s assets to fund the deposits. City analysts said that would be tantamount to nationalising the bank.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t()<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Geoffrey Wood, economics professor at Cass Business School, said: What Mr Darling is doing is a good idea.
