Il se pr\u00e9parait d\u00e9j\u00e0 aux pr\u00e9sidentielles, fut effectivement candidat, puis battu par vous-savez-qui (en fait, battu par la crise, comme l’on sait en v\u00e9rit\u00e9, car un McCain \u00e9paul\u00e9 d’une Palin sans la crise financi\u00e8re aurait eu bien des charmes pour l’Am\u00e9ricain moyen).<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tJohn McCain confirme, \u00e0 l’occasion de la crise iranienne, son caract\u00e8re fantasque, ce qui conduirait de mauvais esprits \u00e0 se demander, e\u00fbt-il \u00e9t\u00e9 \u00e9lu le 4 novembre 2008, quelle politique il e\u00fbt choisi dans cette m\u00eame crise iranienne. Caract\u00e8re fantasque, c’est-\u00e0-dire \u00e9galement contradictoire parce que, d’un c\u00f4t\u00e9, il ne m\u00e9nage pas ses compliments \u00e0 son vainqueur, qu’il juge excellent pr\u00e9sident, de l’autre, \u00e0 l’occasion de cette m\u00eame crise iranienne, il est le premier, et l’un des rares, \u00e0 critiquer vertement Obama pour n’\u00eatre pas assez dur, pas assez offensif, pas assez mena\u00e7ant (Bomb, bomb, bomb Iran<\/em>). Ainsi se montre-t-il \u00e0 cet \u00e9gard comme l’un des derniers survivants de la phalange neocon<\/em>, bien qu’il n’en ait jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 officiellement, mais on conclurait tout de m\u00eame qu’il est, psychologiquement, bien plus neocon<\/em> que beaucoup d’entre eux.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tC’est l’occasion, au travers d’une interview par Rachel Maddow sur MSNBC, dont des extraits sont repris par RAW Story<\/em> le 23 juin 2009<\/a>, d’observer le portrait de McCain, avec quelques acolytes, que trace David Ewards, r\u00e9dacteur en chef de The Nation<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bbHayes believes that there is a tremendous pathological narcissism on behalf of people like McCain and Graham that everything revolves around the U.S. and revolves around our own kind of preening moral self-satisfaction. And its actually – its really destructive. I mean, if the president were doing what they want him to do, we would see things get worse in Iran, worse for the dissidents and protestors. Its very hard to excuse.<\/em> []<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bbHayes added, I think John McCain, in some ways, is the most intense of true believers in terms of elected officials in American life in which every battle is a battle between the righteous U.S. which is a beacon of freedom and the evil forces of oppression, tyranny, wherever they may be and whatever kind of regime they might be occupying, and that everything kind of in this the solar system way, the U.S. is the sun and all foreign policy revolves around us and the freedom that we cast out into the world.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Est-ce effectivement un caract\u00e8re de la psychologie de McCain (et des divers neocons<\/em> et associ\u00e9s)? Cela para\u00eet \u00eatre une explication satisfaisante, et nous fait imaginer de bien belles occasions g\u00e2ch\u00e9es avec sa d\u00e9faite \u00e0 l’\u00e9lection pr\u00e9sidentielle.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tCela nous conduit \u00e9videmment \u00e0 mettre une fois de plus l’accent sur l’importance de la psychologie, et \u00e0 nous demander si le mouvement n\u00e9oconservateur, bien plus qu’une id\u00e9ologie qui n’aurait \u00e9t\u00e9 qu’un maquillage id\u00e9ologique dont on se serait accord\u00e9 \u00e0 le peinturlurer pour rester entre intellectuels, n’est pas d’abord une forme caract\u00e9ristique de la psychologie am\u00e9ricaniste. On dirait qu’il s’agit de la forme exacerb\u00e9e, ou de la phase terminale de la psychologie am\u00e9ricaniste, c’est-\u00e0-dire effectivement une pathologie de la psychologie; John McCain en est \u00e9videmment, par ses traits propres, un exemplaire \u00e9tonnant malgr\u00e9 sa non-appartenance formelle au mouvement.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tMcCain reste, malgr\u00e9 sa d\u00e9faite, un cas effectivement int\u00e9ressant parce qu’il a dans ses choix politiques, dans sa psychologies, des aspects tr\u00e8s peu conservateurs au sens US du terme. Mais lorsqu’on en vient \u00e0 la question du bellicisme, des valeurs port\u00e9es par les bombes, essentiellement les valeurs lib\u00e9rales et d\u00e9mocratiques, celles qui justifient avec z\u00e8le et enthousiasme les bombardements humanitaires (dixit<\/em> Vaclav Havel en avril 1999 \u00e0 propos du Kosovo), il semble qu’il ne puisse plus se tenir, qu’il y a quelque chose de plus fort que lui. Non, finalement ce m\u00e9lange d’humanitarisme si proche de la gauche extr\u00eamement lib\u00e9rale europ\u00e9enne et de bellicisme d\u00e9vastateur pour le bonheur des gens fait de lui un v\u00e9ritable neocon<\/em> d’honneur, c’est-\u00e0-dire un repr\u00e9sentant typique de la psychologie moderniste confront\u00e9e aux aga\u00e7antes r\u00e9ticences et r\u00e9sistances de la r\u00e9alit\u00e9.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
