The general consensus was anger. The rights afforded by education are not simply the reserve of the elite, a claim implied by some commentators<\/em> []<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>One of the speakers at the rally was Angela Maddock, an art lecturer from Swansea University. She rejected the idea that the arts should be subordinated to so-called useful subjects, and instead argued for a defence of art for art&rsquo;s sake. The Government&rsquo;s decision to ringfence science and technology while cutting the entire teaching budget for the arts and humanities, points to an alarming ethos.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>The biggest cheer came when speakers made the connection between the eye-watering price of proposed tuition fees and the banking scandal. Radicalism is in the air. Le <em>Guardian<\/em> l&rsquo;annonce ce <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/education\/2010\/nov\/11\/students-protests-national-24-november\" class=\"gen\">11 novembre 2010<\/a><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00ab<em>Emboldened by the numbers who took to the streets of London to campaign against the proposal to charge up to \u00a39,000 a year in fees, students are planning a wave of direct-action protests across the country.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Protesters occupied a building at the University of Manchester today, demanding access to accounts to see how government spending cuts may affect students and staff.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Grassroots groups were drawing up plans for a national day of action in two weeks&rsquo; time. Michael Chessum, the co-founder of the National Campaign Against the Cuts, predicted there would be widespread disruption as students staged sit-ins, occupations or walkouts at universities and colleges on 24 November.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>We went off script: the script that said a few thousand people would turn up, complain a bit, and go home; and the cuts would go through pretty much as planned, said Chessum, 21, a sabbatical officer at University College London. That has changed. Now students really feel they can stop this.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>A statement published by student leaders praised the storming of the building housing Conservative party headquarters by a fringe group of protesters on Wednesday. We reject any attempt to characterise the Millbank protest as small, extremist&rsquo; or unrepresentative of our movement. We celebrate the fact that thousands of students were willing to send a message to the Tories that we will fight to win. Occupations are a long established tradition in the student movement that should be defended.<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tD&rsquo;une fa\u00e7on g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, divers commentateurs britanniques ont observ\u00e9 avec un sentiment de frustration les mouvements de protestation en France, durant le mois d&rsquo;octobre, comme Tariq Ali le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.guardian.co.uk\/politics\/2010\/oct\/19\/protest-against-cuts-french\" class=\"gen\">19 octobre 2010<\/a> dans le <em>Guardian<\/em>. Les conditions faites aux Britanniques par les mesures gouvernementales sont \u00e9videmment \u00e9pouvantables et vont toujours dans le m\u00eame sens du syst\u00e8me qui a conduit \u00e0 la catastrophe, qui, aujourd&rsquo;hui, justifie ces mesures.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tApr\u00e8s l&rsquo;accord de d\u00e9fense franco-britannique (voir le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dedefensa.org\/article-une_alliance_par_la_force_de_la_crise_generale__04_11_2010.html\" class=\"gen\">4 novembre 2010<\/a>), y aura-t-il un nouvel accord franco-britannique en marche, cette fois de contestation du syst\u00e8me ? C&rsquo;est une question int\u00e9ressante pour ce pays, le Royaume-Uni, qui est \u00e0 la fois, dans ses sph\u00e8res officielles et dans ses \u00e9lites, le parangon du syst\u00e8me, le plus grand d\u00e9vot du syst\u00e8me et la principale victime du syst\u00e8me.
