While no decisions are expected out of Monday&rsquo;s Defense Acquisition Board meeting, Morrell says, any decisions will be made by the secretary himself, and likely as a part of the 2012 budget review.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>Previous reviews have not fully illuminated the issues of the program, Morrell says, and Venlet  appointed in May after Gates fired the previous JSF Program Office director, Marine Maj Gen Mike Heinz  has found additional issues that are of concern, including the fact that earlier reviews understated the amount of software that remains unwritten.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>It&rsquo;s hard not to think about the horrible tale of the General Dynamics\/McDonnell Douglas A-12. In that case, it was then-defense secretary Dick Cheney who discovered the program was in bigger trouble than he&rsquo;d been told.<\/em> <\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\t\u00bb<em>This is now the second such revelation for Gates. He fired the Air Force&rsquo;s top leaders in 2008 because they opposed canceling the F-22, and terminated the program the following year, after getting advice that all was going well with JSF<\/em>\u00bb<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tLe pr\u00e9c\u00e9dent agit\u00e9 par Sweetman est horrible, celui de l&rsquo;abandon brutal du chasseur de p\u00e9n\u00e9tration \u00e0 technologie furtive General Dynamics (GD) A-12 en janvier 1991, sur ordre furieux du secr\u00e9taire \u00e0 la d\u00e9fense d&rsquo;alors Dick Cheney (notamment \u00e0 la suite d&rsquo;une visite des usines de GD lorsque Cheney d\u00e9couvrit que ce qui \u00e9tait pr\u00e9sent\u00e9 comme le prototype du A-12 \u00e9tait une maquette en bois). On trouvera des indications utiles sur cette affaire dans un de nos textes, le <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dedefensa.org\/article-retour_sur_la_stealth_technology_premiere_partie_22_07_2005.html?admin=1\" class=\"gen\">22 juillet 2005<\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p><p>\tSweetman suppose aimablement que Gates n&rsquo;ira pas jusque l\u00e0 (l&rsquo;abandon furieux du JSF), mais l&rsquo;ambiance est d\u00e9sormais fermement install\u00e9e A savoir que, d\u00e9sormais toujours, le Pentagone est en position d&rsquo;affrontement frontal avec Lockheed Martin, avec le JSF au milieu, entre le marteau et l&rsquo;enclume plut\u00f4t qu&rsquo;entre la poire et le fromage.
