M\u00eame les plus convaincus de l’importance et de la valeur des id\u00e9ologies et des religions finissent, lorsqu’ils sont honn\u00eates et exp\u00e9riment\u00e9s, par reconna\u00eetre qu’aucune de ces valeurs n’est d\u00e9terminante et que toutes finissent par se dissoudre dans le d\u00e9sordre. Le Moyen-Orient et ses alentours, par exemple, toute cette zone crisique o\u00f9 l’on d\u00e9crit ing\u00e9nument ce qu’on imagine \u00eatre l’affrontement entre la d\u00e9mocratie et ceux qui s’y opposent, voici la chose, telle que d\u00e9crite par Robert Fisk, le 20 avril 2014<\/a> dans The Independent<\/em> : Mafiastan<\/em>.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\tDans la premi\u00e8re partie de son article, Fisk d\u00e9crit l’activit\u00e9 corruptrice innombrable de l’Arabie Saoudite, et, dans ce cas, plus pr\u00e9cis\u00e9ment avec le Pakistan. La litanie est sans fin, les faits ne peuvent \u00e9tonner, le flot de la corruption court comme la fameuse mar\u00e9e au galop du Mont Saint-Michel. Toute la r\u00e9gion est engloutie, et encore engloutie, et toujours engloutie sous le poids ph\u00e9nom\u00e9nal de la corruption. Quelques extraits ci-dessous…<\/p>\n<\/p>\n

Institutionalised kleptocracy was a minister’s definition of al-Maliki’s government; just take a look at my colleague Patrick Cockburn’s excoriating account of Iraqi corruption last year. In Syria, the rebels’ fiefdom is run by money mobs. That’s why every hostage has a price, every Free Syrian Army retreat and the word retreat must also be placed in quotation marks must be paid for, by the Syrian government or by the Russians or, most frequently, by the Iranians. The Syrian civil war is funded by Qatar and Saudi Arabia, by Libya and by Moscow and Tehran and, when it suits them, by the Americans. We’re so caught up in battlefield losses and war crimes and sarin and barrel bombs that we lose sight of the fact that the Syrian bloodbath much like the Lebanese bloodbath of 1976-1990 is underwritten by vast amounts of cash from foreign donors.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/p>\n

\t\u00bbAll this is to say that the Middle East we must confront in the future and it will be of our making as surely as the mass slaughter of its people have been primarily our responsibility will not be a set of vicious caliphates, of Iraqistan or Syriastan or Egyptstan. Apr\u00e8s plus d’une d\u00e9cennie d’activisme forcen\u00e9 engendr\u00e9 par le Syst\u00e8me et sa globalisation, avec l’extension d\u00e9mesur\u00e9e du Big Business<\/em> et l’installation du monde apolaire<\/a>, avec la terreur devenu une sorte de marque d\u00e9pos\u00e9e<\/a> pour activer le commerce de la corruption, le but de la d\u00e9mocratisation du monde, et du Moyen-Orient en particulier (\u00abYes, the transitional road to democracy is all the rage these days<\/em>\u00bb), semble proche d’\u00eatre atteint. Dans le Mafiastan<\/em>, terre o\u00f9 le soleil ardent de la corruption ne se couche jamais, le d\u00e9sordre r\u00e8gne, incontest\u00e9, intouchable, splendide et sans \u00e9quivalent.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
